Gold September is a global movement dedicated to raising awareness about childhood and adolescent cancer. This year, Childhood Cancer International (CCI) and the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) invite everyone to come together and help Turn the World Gold.

Childhood cancer affects children and families everywhere. Yet, even today, where a child lives can significantly influence their chances of surviving cancer.
In high-income countries, more than 80% of children diagnosed with cancer can be cured. However, in many low- and middle-income countries, survival rates remain significantly lower.
This inequality is largely driven by disparities in early and accurate diagnosis, access to specialised treatment, essential medicines, appropriate technologies, supportive care and continuity of treatment.
A child’s chance of surviving cancer should never depend on where they are born, where they live or their family’s financial situation.
We believe this must change.
Throughout September, we invite survivors, families, healthcare professionals, advocates, organisations and supporters across Mauritius to join this global movement and show the world why they are Going Gold.
