Every year, Pink October reminds us of a reality affecting millions of women and families worldwide: breast cancer. In 2022, approximately 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer worldwide, and around 670,000 died from the disease.

In Mauritius, we must also take action. GLOBOCAN 2022 estimated 537 new cases of breast cancer, representing 33.2% of all new cancers diagnosed among Mauritian women.

These figures should not create fear. They should inspire action.

๐ŸŒธ SMILE Breast Cancer Care Project

It is with this vision that Enn Rev Enn Sourir initiated the SMILE Breast Cancer Care Project in 2024, with the aim of providing people affected by breast cancer with more comprehensive, compassionate and coordinated support.

Our approach does not stop at diagnosis. We aim to accompany patients from screening to treatment, and from treatment to life after cancer. Our services include promoting early detection; raising awareness of warning signs and breast self-awareness; facilitating access to qualified healthcare professionals; access to our specialised network and international multidisciplinary opinions; guidance towards modern treatments and medicines; exploring treatment options in Mauritius or abroad; patient navigation; medical follow-up; psychological and psychosocial support; and support relating to femininity, rights, dignity, breast preservation and reconstruction when medically appropriate.

We also raise funds to contribute towards the treatment of eligible patients and to ensure the sustainability of the project.

๐ŸŽฏ Our Ambition

Our objective is clear: to contribute to reducing breast cancer-related deaths in Mauritius, particularly by promoting earlier detection, timely referral and better continuity of care.

Enn Rev Enn Sourir also connects its work with the international cancer community through its links with SIOP, Childhood Cancer International (CCI) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

๐ŸŽ€ Pink October 2026: From Awareness to Action

Throughout October, we will be running MED360 Podcast Live, publishing educational content across our social media platforms with the support of influencers and local media, and organising breast health activities, consultations and screening initiatives with our partners across Mauritius.

We also recognise initiatives that strengthen access to information, including Pink Pulse by Breast Cancer Care Mauritius, which helps raise public awareness about breast health and access to available services.

Because Pink October should be more than a ribbon or a one-month campaign.

Inform to understand. Detect earlier. Support without abandoning. Treat with dignity.

October is Pink. Our commitment lasts 365 days. ๐ŸŽ€
